Breath workshop - Pranayama (prana=energy; yama=to guide).
All physical, emotional, & mental stress is reflected in the breath: our breathing responds to every thought, feeling & sensation (think of the quick inhale of surprise, the exaggerated exhale in a good cry, the fast heartbeat and short, chesty breathing of anxiety).
In this workshop Tessa McLennan will show us how to work with the breath: we will practice observing it, changing it, & figure out how to feel & receive the breath with greater understanding & openness.
We will explore the breath’s role in supporting the postures, while re-energising & rejuvenating the body. There is a strong belief that it is not muscle that enables you to hold the posture, but is the mind that creates the balance & the breath gives you the ability to hold it.
We will finish with a guided meditation to allow you to go deeper into relaxation & to help the thinking part of your brain to “switch off”.
The workshop will include an active yoga practice, pranayama, guided meditation, & a restorative practice to leave students feeling deeply rested yet alive, clear, relaxed, & free.
Everything is provided & all levels are welcome!
